It Takes Time

(Dress: Thrifted Free People, Hat: Free People, Shoes: Lucky Brand)

Sometimes I tend to forget the simple fact that things take time. I’ve never been the most patient person, and I’m totally working on that. I just want to thank those of you who read my blog, your comments seriously mean so much! It makes everything even more fun when I hear from people who stumble upon Candylouise. I just have to remind myself that starting a blog takes time just like everything else in life. :)

So enough of that, and on to the outfit haha. I seriously felt like I hit the jackpot when I found this lovely little dress at a local thrift store. Like, who would EVER get rid of a dress so adorable?! I immediately was drawn to the daisy pattern on the dress, and when I saw the peter pan collar, I knew it was fate. This dress and I were meant to be. I absolutely love it. It's super comfy, and just the right fit I think. I see myself wanting to put this dress on, like every day -- I'll have to stop myself from actually doing that.
Along with the dress of my dreams is the first ever straw hat that I have owned, and I surprisingly really like it! I bought it for my upcoming Costa Rica trip, but I find myself pairing it with outfits here in the Northeast too. These two are a perfect pair.

Hope everyone has a happy Saturday!

Into the Woods

(Dress & Lace crop: Free People, Hat: Forever 21, Jacket: Madewell, Shoes: thrifted)

I'm so glad that despite the rain, I still got to hit the park today. It was pouring this morning, and then let up for a bit this afternoon, so I decided that was a sign not to cancel my plans.
Westmore Park is definitely my favorite place in my town. It's got tons of little paths to wander down, a lake, and even a farm! I had such a lovely time there today, I may find myself back there again soon. Not to mention there were tons of great spots for photos.
I decided the perfect outfit for a little adventure like today's was my voile slip. You've seen my printed one on here before, but my cream one is probably my favorite. It's so delicate looking on its own, but I love pairing even more lace with it. Green is my favorite color, and I gotta say, the green of this lacey bra from Free People is one of my favorite shades.

Oxford Comma

(Dress: old Forever 21, Shoes: thrifted, Socks: Free People)

This morning I had the most awful time getting dressed, which made me so sad! Getting dressed should always be fun. Unfortunately, it was one of those "I've got nothing to wear" days. So after digging through my closet, (and making a mess), I found this dress that's pretty old but still as comfy and cute as ever. Another floral dress.. I know. They're seriously the best though, especially during rough mornings like mine today.
But now onto the shoes! I'm so so excited about them. I've been searching for a pair of oxfords and voila, I found these babies at Goodwill yesterday! $8 bucks, I might add. I'm a very happy girl.

I'm planning to visit this really pretty park in Hartford tomorrow, so I'll do my best to take some outfit photos there! It'd be a nice change from trying to find decent spots in my neighborhood.

Thriftaholic

(Entire outfit is thrifted!)

I may be a thrift-aholic...I seriously love it so much. It's so satisfying to wear an entire outfit that's all finds from Savers! Just goes to show that you don't need a lot of money for fashion.
This is just a typical outfit I wear throughout the summer. The majority of my shorts are diy's from long pants I've found, which is nice because then you can decide what length you want them to be! I've had great luck with finding vintage levi's lately which I'm really happy about.
And look, no hat today! My hair is normally pretty boring looking or messy which is why I typically add a hat to most outfits, but I switched it up today.

It is pretty hot out already today, so I'm planning to spend the rest of the day reading out on the porch, soaking up the warmth! I especially love summer vacation because I get back into reading. I've had so many books piling up that I've meant to read but never go to. First up: Palo Alto by James Franco.

Arrows n' Polka dots

(Top: Forever 21, Skirt: Brandy Melville)

I've been so inspired by Alexa Chung lately. She's definitely one of my most looked up to style icons, and I envy the way she can look so effortlessly cool. I just read her book, It, and cannot recommend it enough. It's got everything about life that you must know.
I guess I was sort of inspired by her menswear-girly style that I put this on the other day.
I love the cute arrow print on this top, and it pairs great with all my high waisted shorts and skirts! I couldn't help but add my polka dot tights to the outfit too - it was just a little bit too chilly to go without them, and I love the quirkiness they add to any outfit.

Make sure to follow me on instagram! I'll be posting there when I don't have time for an actual outfit post :)

Daisy Rain

(Dress: Brandy Melville, Tights: UO, Jacket: Madewell, Shoes: Steve Madden)

All this rain is seriously putting a damper on my outfits. Waking up to a dreary looking sky makes me just want to throw on sweaters and leggings!
BUT today I couldn't resist wearing my new daisy tights. I'm in love with these and am hoping they don't tear easily!
This shirt/dress is so comfy, it's one of those things I can just throw on before an early class, but also looks so cute with tights and the right accessories.
Sorry about the hat, though. I realized halfway through that I'm wearing a hat in most photos, so I decided to take it off. I'm literally obsessed with hats right now, they just seem to be the perfect add on to any outfit.

(Dress: Urban Outfitters, Hat: Urban Outfitters, Jacket: Vintage, Shoes: old DSW find)

Well it certainly was windy this morning, but I'm glad I got a quick chance to snap a few photos before heading to work. The dress wasn't having this weather though.. I pretty much had to hold down the whole time!
I'm really getting into this minimalistic look, not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I know for sure that I'm loving this t-shirt dress from Urban, though. It's literally the most comfortable thing -- since it's basically a t-shirt! Stripes have always been an unknown for me, but I've decided I like them in the right outfit. Also I'm psyched that I found this hat, it's a little bit smaller than my other ones so it's perfect for everyday indoor wear.

(Dress: FreePeople Bag: Vintage Jacket: Marshall's find! Boots: Steve Madden)

I've been in such a grungy mood lately with my outfits, so today I decided to break out the whites. This slip dress from Free People is adorable, I love it so much I have it in black too. It was the perfect thing to put on for a very warm Easter!
Definitely a more minimal outfit, which is nice for a change. I've been so inspired by all of the minimalistic style trends lately and am trying to incorporate that into my everyday looks.

Hope everyone's having a lovely holiday!
